Overview
Hawthorn’s 10th AFL premiership did not happen overnight; it was the result of years of planning and preparation, many of the ideas pinched from the club the Hawks stunned in the 2008 Grand Final – the Geelong Cats. From the seminal year of 1996, when Ian Dicker and Don Scott fought to stave off a merger and bring the club back from the dead, to the arrival of coach Alastair Clarkson in 2004 and the piecing together of a champion team in the seasons that followed, this was a flag that was many years in the making.
