Overview
For the St Kilda faithful, it seemed like Robert Harvey would play forever – the sweetest of dreams from which they’d never wake up. In 2008, however, at 37 and with 383 games under his belt, Harvey finally said enough was enough. Harvs: St Kilda legend is a glowing tribute to both Harvey the player (stunning individual performances, the fruitless pursuit of a flag, club records, Brownlow Medals, All-Australian awards, and countless other honours) and Harvey the man (competitive, humble, driven, generous and passionate are just some of the adjectives that keep popping up). One of the best midfielders in the history of the game, Harvey gave his all for the Saints, and they loved him for it. Gone, but never to be forgotten, he is best summed up in the words of his long-time teammate and fellow St Kilda champion, Nathan Burke: “I was privileged to have played with him, you are privileged to have watched him, and we at St Kilda are privileged to have him.”
